Lekket

The World Union of Jewish Studies’ on-line collection of select articles in various fields of Jewish studies constitutes one of the Union’s chief services, enabling users to peruse the material, search the contents of the articles, and download the articles to personal computers.

Purpose

The articles in the database are available and accessible to readers, scholars and researchers, teachers, students, and the general public in Israel and worldwide. Use of the database requires no registration or fee. Members of the World Union of Jewish Studies can open personal files on the web site for perusal and research purposes (see below, “Applications”).

Sponsoring institutions

Lekket database was established and is administered and run through the support of the The Ministry of Science, Culture & Sport of the State of Israel, Conference on Jewish Material Claims against Germany, Inc., Yad Vashem, Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture and another donor who wishes to remain anonymous.

Archive

The World Union of Jewish Studies sponsors academic committees composed of different experts in the fields of Jewish Studies, whose task is to select the articles included in the database. At the current stage the chosen articles relate primarily to the study of the Holocaust and Anti-Semitism. It is hoped that further fields will be added in the future. The Union is responsible for the web site’s daily maintenance.

Applications

The web site enables perusal of the articles which it contains and searches of their content (by single words or by word groups). The database permits presentation of the articles according to author, title, and subject and the possibility of downloading them to personal computers in PDF format. See Applications of the database
Members of the World Union of Jewish Studies are eligible to operate a “personal file” in which they may save the results of their searches, as well as single pages of the articles. This “personal file” enables a tagging of the articles for advanced research purposes. See Further applications.
